"BIM", an acronym for Building Information Modeling, is a new approach for design and construction that is rapidly taking hold of the industry. BIM is essentially is a new way to collaboratively bring all the team members together to work under one "model" for the building. "The application of BIM in the building industry will revolutionize the process for constructing new and remodeled buildings. Because the Owner can be involved much earlier in the development process, with an ability to 'walk through' a space before it is constructed, they can bring a new focus to their programming and plan flexibility into their buildings," explains Roland. "Further, the ability for the BIM process to reduce changes, enhance constructability and collaboration, and minimize project conflicts will make the project delivery process much more efficient and cost effective for all stakeholders." |
