Our firm provided construction management services (preconstruction and construction) for this new, 117,000 square foot, two-story elementary school. This new elementary school was designed to receive an LEED “Gold” certification and includes many additional features that make it unique such as outdoor learning areas, a storm water management bio-retention facility and multiple play areas. The site work was extensive and included a bus loop separate from the parent drop-off driveway, 110 parking spaces in three different locations in order to eliminate traffic congestion, a paved play area adjacent to the gymnasium and cafeteria, as well as an outdoor amphitheater and gazebo where students can observe the bio-retention areas.
This project is special because it is a true Green Learning Environment thanks to the ability to incorporate the green features of the new building and site into the school’s curriculum. Features include: natural daylight from the installed skylight, enhanced classroom acoustics, electric lighting controlled by occupancy, improved indoor air quality, and thermal comfort.
