Project Name

Wayne County Schools Career Center Additions/Renovations

Smithville, OH

Project Description

Quandel was selected to provide planning and construction management services for additions and renovations to Wayne County Schools Career Center in Smithville, Ohio. The project was funded by a .75 mil Permanent Improvement Levy passed in November 2007, being the District’s first improvement levy in 20 years. The project is part of the Ohio School Facilities Commission’s (OSFC) Expedited Local Partnership Program and is the first JVS renovation project with the OSFC to pursue LEED Silver certification. Quandel began working with the District during its early planning phase and was able to discover inconsistencies with the State assessment and Master Plans, and as a result, was able to intervene on the District’s behalf and resolve costly issues before construction began.

Renovations to the occupied facility included extensive upgrades to every major building system including the integration of a super efficient variable refrigerant flow (VRF) mechanical system, as well as new roof finishes.
