Clarion Hospital Emergency Department Expansion

Project Name

Clarion Hospital

Clarion, PA

Project Description

Quandel Construction met the challenge of preserving daily operations while doubling the size of the Clarion Hospital’s operating and emergency facilities and expanding its patient care area. The negotiated general construction contract included 15,000 square feet of renovations to the existing emergency and operating rooms and support service areas as well as 22,000 square feet of new construction. Quandel built another emergency room and operating room and 16 ambulatory care stations.

All of the construction was done on the hospital’s first floor. The additions were completed first to allow hospital operations to continue while the existing areas were being renovated.

Quandel’s willingness and ability to coordinate construction work with hospital operations was outstanding. Everybody construction-wise worked very well with hospital employees. They worked directly with people affected by the construction in each area. We developed the feeling that they belonged here. No hospital services were disrupted, slowed, or stopped because of construction. Quandel did everything possible to not disrupt hospital routine. They worked nights, weekends, and over holidays. Everyone who has moved into the new areas has high praises for how they function. Everything is wonderful.
