Justice Improvement Program
Dauphin County, PA
Quandel was retained as Construction Manager by the Dauphin County Commissioners to oversee a three phase Criminal Justice improvement program.
The initial project involved the Juvenile Court relocation and renovation. This project included the complete demolition of the existing 7th floor space within the Dauphin County Human Services Building in the City of Harrisburg. The completed Juvenile Court space totals 22,000 square feet and includes two new courtrooms, holding areas, administrative offices and additional space for growth.
The next portion of the improvement program was additions and alterations to the Work Release Center in Swatara Township. This provided 47,500 square feet of space for female work release residents that were housed at the existing, nearby Woodside Work Release facility. The program also provided for extensive mechanical system upgrades, interior renovations and total roof replacement.
The final portion involved the demolition of the existing Woodside Work Release Center and construction of a new 30,000 square foot, state of the art Judicial Center in Swatara Township. This phase also includes minor renovations to the Night Court within the existing Dauphin County Prison.
