Project Description

Quandel Construction was hired by Pitt Ohio Express, Inc. to construct a new trucking facility under a GMP (Guaranteed Maximum Price) contract. The facility was designed to meet the budget established by Quandel at the onset of the project, and the scope of work included clearing and developing an 11-acre site and constructing a 40-door truck terminal cross-dock facility with supporting office space and a separate maintenance shop.

Quandel’s ability to develop teamwork between the owner, architect, and major subcontractors and work within the established budget and schedule parameters permitted the owner to occupy the facility eight to ten months quicker than with traditional design/bid/build construction methods. Quandel worked closely with the owner, architect, and subcontractors before the project began to ensure less design time, high-quality construction, and minimal change orders. Quandel also developed a program which will allow Pitt Ohio Express to expand its facility in the future. In addition, Quandel overcame winter conditions without the benefit of power from the utility company, which was not able to extend power to the site until three quarters of the construction was complete.
