Project Description

By employing value engineering and comprehensive scheduling techniques during the design phase, Quandel was able to guarantee budget and critical occupancy for the new Phase II student housing on the Schuylkill Campus of Pennsylvania State University. Acting as construction manager, Quandel ensured completion of the three-story, 21,600 sq. ft. dormitory in time for 72 students to occupy the suites for the fall term.

Because of its success with the project, Quandel was awarded Phase III of the housing project at the campus, becoming involved much earlier and adding to its responsibilities the coordination of the site layout and the monitoring of the architects’ design.

The Advisory Board that planned this project was told by several contractors that our Phase 2 dormitory couldn’t be built within the University’s time and budget constraints. Quandel said it could. Our Advisory Board is extremely pleased that the campus project came in on time and within our budget. We knew at the time the contract was signed that it would not be easy to do, but Quandel did it!
