Project Description

After a competitive bidding process, Quandel Construction was selected as the General Contractor for additions and renovations to St. Joseph’s Center in Dunmore, PA. The main building at St. Joseph’s Center was originally constructed in 1900 and is home to 88 individuals with profound mental retardation and serious physical handicaps. Over time, resident needs have become greater, and this project was initiated in order to better serve the residents’ increasing needs.

The 27,000 sq. ft. project involved renovations to resident rooms with new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems along with new floors, walls, and ceilings. In addition, a new laundry and kitchen facility was constructed along with renovations to the existing maintenance shop.

Quandel brought a high level of knowledge and expertise to the project. The project manager and the superintendent on the job were attentive and responsive to the multiple details in this very complex project. Problems were addressed quickly as they developed. Throughout the entire two-year project, Quandel was very responsive to questions and concerns that were raised, and was pro-active in addressing issues with those involved in the project. There were a number of suggestions offered by Quandel as a means of either providing cost savings or, at least, minimizing additional costs where they were necessary. The renovation and construction effort was a complex, extended-duration project with work phased over three or four distinct periods of time. We are very happy with the work performed by Quandel on this project.
