Quandel provided construction management at-risk for the fit-out of an existing second floor shell space for the Geisinger St. Luke’s acute care hospital. Quandel was the construction manager at-risk for the Hospital, which was completed in 2019. The second floor was left as a shell space with the intent to add additional medical-surgical rooms and associated support space. This fitout project was deemed essential by the Hospital due to their census results showing that the Hospital was operating above capacity from the original build.
In addition to the beds, new spaces included staff lounge areas, offices, physical therapy space, a multi-purpose room, and storage. Despite additional time and costs related to a three-month delay in receiving the air handling units, the fitout was completed under budget.
Completion of this project added 40 additional medical beds to the hospital to better meet the growing medical needs within the community.
