Our firm provided construction management services for the demolition of the existing school and the subsequent construction of a replacement school. The need for this project arose as the existing school had experienced overcrowding, surpassing its capacity by more than one hundred students. To address this issue, temporary classrooms had been utilized to accommodate the overflow.
The new replacement school, designed to be larger, significantly increased student capacity by more than three hundred, eliminating the necessity for temporary classrooms in the future. With a capacity for 785 students, the new elementary school was a crucial addition to meet the growing enrollment demands in the area.
Functioning as an extension of the Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) facilities team, our role involved providing comprehensive support. This encompassed delivering cost estimates, conducting detailed constructability reviews, outlining prime scopes in detail, developing the project schedule, and creating a phasing plan. Throughout the construction process, we managed multiple primes, ensuring adherence to the project schedule, monitoring LEED requirements, and overseeing construction activities.
Our commitment extended to aiding BCPS in project procurement, coordinating and facilitating administrative functions related to the project, and providing assistance with site management. This collaborative effort aimed to successfully deliver a state-of-the-art replacement school, meeting the educational needs of the community and contributing to the enhancement of Baltimore County Public Schools’ facilities.
