The project consisted of the construction of a new 4 story Women’s Shelter, the demolition of two, 120 year-old former school buildings on the property, excavation, site work, and, environmental remediation. The first building to be demolished made way for the new Women’s Shelter, expanding the number of beds from 25 to over 50. The new building included a full service kitchen, dining room, living rooms, and bedrooms for the residents. Once the new building was completed and occupied, the second building was demolished to make way for a park-like outdoor space including vegetable and flower gardens, prayer and meditation areas, play areas for children, grass and trees, security fencing and a landscaped buffer.
