Quandel was the construction manager for the 12,000-square-foot renovations to the third floor at Easton Hospital, creating a new 16-bed Adult Psychiatric Behavioral Health Unit.
Majority of the renovation included converting 15 semi-private rooms and support spaces into 16 private rooms, eight of which contain ADA compliant toilet rooms. All rooms included revisions to headwalls and new bathroom showers. A “European Style” shower room was also included for patients that require bathing assistance. To address patient safety concerns, patient areas were equipped with anti-ligature hardware, anti-ligature accessories in bathrooms, and patient-safety doors with an angled top. Psychiatric-grade window systems are also utilized.
Additional renovations to this unit included nurses’ station, sally port, nourishment area, medication dispensing room, staff support spaces, group therapy, soiled room, quiet areas, office and conference areas, work room, multipurpose area, and storage spaces.
