It features a custom-color, standing seam roof; three shades of polished granite on the entire exterior; and a computerized heating/cooling system that can be activated from outside the building. The three-story center houses the customer accounting, general ledger, audit, operations, and loan operations departments as well as computer and data entry rooms, an executive area, a cafeteria, and an exercise room. It serves two bank subsidiaries.
Lee said the corporate officials initially rejected the concept of construction management. Once they interviewed Quandel and realized the scope of the project, however, they reconsidered. “It was an extensive project that required someone on site at all times to monitor its progress,” lee said. Without a construction manager, omega officials would not have had the full-time representation of a construction professional they felt they needed. “We felt it was the only way to get the kind of protection you need on an ongoing basis,” lee said. He added that Quandel also saved the corporation money, bringing the project in under the guaranteed maximum price and returning $300,000 in project savings to omega.
