West Brunswick Township, PA

Project Details.

Quandel was hired as the construction manager at-risk for the construction of this acute care hospital in Orwigsburg, PA. The building consists of a 15,000-square-foot basement area that includes mechanical spaces, a laboratory, morgue, biomed, environmental services, and the Sterile Processing Department. The first floor is approximately 48,000 square feet and consists of a 14-bed emergency department, radiology suite, operating suite, kitchen/dining, and an administrative suite. The second floor is approximately 33,000 square feet and was built as shell space with the capacity to add 40 medical-surgical patient rooms and associated support space. The third floor is also 33,000 square feet and contains 30 medical-surgical rooms, 10 intensive/critical care unit rooms, and support space for the floor.

The building façade is a combination of brick veneer, exterior insulation and finish systems, stone veneer, and aluminum curtain wall and punched window openings. Exterior site work included three retention ponds, paving and roadway work, new utilities, a 600-foot-long segmented block wall, and a Helipad. Twin 750 kW diesel generators were installed as part of the electrical scope of work.

Quandel completed the fit-out for the second floor in February 2023, which added the 40 inpatient rooms and support space.
