Quandel demolished a portion of the original patient wing of Community Osteopathic Hospital to create additional parking. Challenged with a typical aggressive schedule, work included asbestos abatement, an underground detention pond, and demolition of a 25,000-square-foot building – all with minimal disruption to patients. The new 93,700-square-foot parking lot
provides additional, and much needed, patient/visitor parking as well as
dedicated physician parking.
Obstacles that were overcome on this project included managing extensive underground utilities, which are basically the lifeline of the entire healthcare campus. Each utility was included within our scope of work, all of which we had to avoid, secure, or relocate. This logistical challenge was accomplished with consistent coordination among the project team and support from the Hospital’s staff.
