J. Vinton Schafer Construction is proud to have two certified drone operators on staff now: Superintendent Jeff McDowell and Project Manager Bryan Jones. Both have earned their Unmanned Aircraft General—Small (UAG) certification through the FAA’s Part 107 program, enabling them to operate drones commercially across our active construction sites.
This capability enhances how we plan, monitor, and document work across all project phases. With certified operators both in the field and in project management, we can integrate drone usage into daily operations with precision and efficiency. Aerial imagery supports more informed decision-making, improves communication with clients and stakeholders, and enables detailed tracking of progress over time.
Drones also add a layer of visibility to our safety oversight by providing real-time views of hard-to-access areas. Whether it’s early-stage site logistics or close-out documentation, our drone program strengthens our ability to deliver high-quality results on every job.
Incorporating drone technology is part of JVS’s broader approach to innovation, leveraging tools that enhance transparency, accuracy, and responsiveness throughout construction. Drone flights can validate subcontractor progress, confirm site readiness for inspections, and keep our clients visually connected to their projects in a meaningful way.
As we continue to expand this capability, JVS remains focused on integrating technology that directly benefits project outcomes. With Jeff and Bryan leading the way, we are building a stronger, more forward-thinking construction team—one that’s equipped to meet the evolving needs of our industry and clients.
