HARRISBURG – For many years, Goodwill Industries of Northeast Pennsylvania has attempted to revitalize the historic North Scranton Junior/Senior High School. This long anticipated project is expected to be a springboard to the revitalization of this highly visible landmark of the City of Scranton.
This improvement program consists of converting a 1920s era Junior/Senior High School into 58 affordable, low income senior housing units. Low Income Tax Credits and Historic Tax Credits (totaling approximately $20 million) helped make this project financially feasible. In addition to the tax credits, a RACP grant of $4 million is being used to convert the existing, 800-seat historic auditorium into a theater-type venue for the residents as well as future events in Scranton.
Quandel Construction Group is serving as the General Contractor and the Guarantor for this development project, which is anticipated to be complete by the end of December 2015.
