The University of Maryland, College Park held a renaming ceremony for the School of Public Policy this week. The building is now dedicated to Thurgood Marshall, who was barred from applying to the University of Maryland School of Law in 1930 because he was Black. Graduating first in his class from Howard University School of Law, he became a civil rights lawyer, led the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, and held various federal legal positions in his career such as U.S. Solicitor General and was the first Supreme Court’s first African American justice. Dedicating this building to his legacy is one step closer to a more inclusive community. We are honored to be the construction managers for this build and part of creating a better future.
