HARRISBURG – It’s hard to believe, but our design-build team just completed the planning, design and construction of a new 108-bed, 190,000 square foot free standing hospital for PinnacleHealth, in Hampden Township, in less than 25 months.
The new hospital opened and began treating patients on May 19.
Over the past 17 months and more than 1,000,000 man-hours later, this state-of-the-art healthcare facility represents Quandel’s largest design-build assignment in the firm’s 132 year history.
Our staff’s performance and the quality outcome was so exceptional that the project has been accepted for presentation at Healthcare Design’s annual national conference in San Diego in November. We were constructing foundations and erecting the building frame while the balance of the hospital was being designed. It represents the textbook example of fast track design and construction.
Some interesting facts about the new hospital:
- Foundations involved over 300 tons of reinforcing steel
- Interior walls account for nearly 1,000,000 square feet of drywall
- The building contains one mile of hot and cold water piping
- Electrical distribution occurs through 60 miles of conduit and over 340 miles of wire
We’re extremely proud of all of our staff members that made this monumental accomplishment possible!
